Fretts Construction was established in 1988 in Courtland, Virginia (Southampton County) by Tom Fretts, an ex-school teacher. We are located about 50 miles west of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and about 20 miles north of the North Carolina border. Our original line of work was in residential shingle roofing, and we have grown into all types of commercial and residential work. We are the only general contractor used for full kitchen and bath installs by the Lowe's Home Improvement Store in Franklin, Virginia, and also work with the Portsmouth Boulevard store in Chesapeake. We are also an approved building maintenance contractor for Chick-Fil-A stores.

We have also branched into building and remodeling, and have built everything from small room additions and garages to full homes. We have done hundreds of residential roof replacements, storefront build-outs in shopping centers, exterior renovations for the Virginia Main Street Project, flood and fire damage restorations – you name it and we’ve probably done it! We have performed contracts for the Department of the Navy, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the City of Franklin and Southampton County VA, and many cities and towns within the state.
